Konga was originally a small primate found by Professor Charles Decker during an expedition in Africa. The professor also acquired a chemical extract from a new plant species. The chemical substance exponentially increased growth in living things.
Professor Decker tests the formula he created using the chemical on Konga, growing him into a chimpanzee and then a gorilla. The formula has a side effect, creating a psychic bond between the professor and Konga.
Thus, Decker's negative feelings against Dean Foster, a detractor of his experiments, cause Konga to escape and kill Foster. Next would be Tagore, an Indian scientist working in the same scientific field as Decker and who presented his advances to the public ahead of Decker, stealing his recognition.
Finally, Konga goes after Robert, a student who made Sandra, the professor's assistant, resign from her position after he proposed to her.
However, Decker and his wife, Margret, realize what happened and try to stop Konga, but the ape has continued to grow and is already a threat of colossal proportions.
The army bombs the area and the threat of the titan is eliminated, but no corpse was ever found ...
