Jean Dupre's mother married an elderly millionaire in the hopes of inherit his fortune when he died. However, the old man left most of his estate to his daughter, Marie. Jean then invented the figure of the Black Bat, the King of Bats, to drive Marie mad and then he and her mother would remain as sole custodians of the family fortune. Indeed, the young woman went crazy and was interned on a mental institution. Jean was so satisfied that he kept disguising himself as the Black Bat to commit misdeeds and keep getting his way. Later, he and his mother moved to Washington DC, from where he tried to make a place for himself in politics.
POWERS & WEAPONS
With the Black Bat suit, Jean could glide through the air like a real bat. He was an exceptional fighter, with above-average physical strength and stamina. His headquarters (before moving to DC) was located in a deep series of caves below the mansion inherited from his stepfather.
