Bernard Gaunt began his activity as a practitioner of the dark arts in 1720. For 50 years he absorbed all the negative vibrations from Creekmore County, paradoxically eliminating all criminality during that period (with the exception of ritual murders committed by himself).
In 1770, lightning struck his mansion in Whispering Hollow. Gaunt's physical form perished in the resulting fire, but his spirit, super charged by the accumulated negative vibrations, lay dormant, until two centuries later, when the house was been rebuilt and Gaunt's ghost was finally awaken, ready to absorb more negative vibrations and become more and more powerful...
POWERS & WEAPONS
Dr. Gaunt is an ethereal being, but he can become solid enough to physically attack someone. His power level depends on the amount of negative vibrations he manages to absorb. He is able to alter his appearance at will and can move objects with his mind. One of his favorite tricks is to take the form of a huge and terrifying black hound to terrorize and hunt his victims. Gaunt can also materialize and control two demonic servants. His only weakness is intense light, which dissipates him... Temporarily.
