Kurt Wiedler was a young SS officer son of an engineer and senior Nazi party official who had been assassinated by the Allies. Wiedler's father had designed and manufactured an impenetrable shield, and Adolf Hitler planned to select the perfect Nazi soldier to wear it. Kurt was a cold and sadistic torturer even by Nazi standards. He also had a tendency to insubordination, for which he was arrested and brought before the Führer himself. However, instead of being punished, Wiedler was promoted to Captain. Soon after, he killed the officer who had arrested him and tried to pass it off as an attack by foreign spies. Before being arrested for the crime, he managed to kill five men with his bare hands. It was at this point that Hitler revealed that he had simply been testing Kurt to see if he was worthy of being the champion of the Aryan cause. The Fuhrer presented him with the shield and a special uniform, and Wiedler vowed to destroy the Allies once and for all and avenge the death of his father. Under the alias Kapitän Reich, Wiedler became the nemesis of the British hero Jack Victory, with whom he clashed on numerous occasions during the war. In an ironic twist, the image of Wiedler's final defeat at the hands of Jack would mark the beginning of the end of the Third Reich.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Along with his mastery of deception and torture techniques he was also an exceptionally skilled combatant and claimed to be the best swordsman in all of Germany. Wiedler possessed a virtually indestructible impervium alloy shield.
