HISTORY 

Monsieur Araignée is a former assassin and thief turned leader of La Société de L'Araignée Noire (The Black Spider Society), a criminal gang with operations in New Orleans and throughout the United States. Jules Rey was a French native who first distinguished himself in the Foreign Legion (a corps of the French army). He later became an international thief and a murderer, earning a considerable amount of money doing so. He was captured by US government agents, although he was blinded by the gunfire. He was incarcerated for his crimes in the Santa Muerte Island Penitentiary. He was thought to have died in prison, but later emerged as Monsieur Araignée (Mr. Spider), swearing revenge against those who helped convict him. His methods were brutal enough to scare even his henchmen. The Black Spider Society is primarily engaged in robbery, extortion, murder, and heroin trafficking. Monsieur Araignée recruits his Black Spiders from the worst of the worst of the New Orleans underworld.

Monsieur Araignée is a formidable opponent, despite his blindness, as this has allowed him to hone all of his other senses to an amazing degree. He has also learned to use darkness as his weapon. He has the vast resources of his criminal organization and an entire army of assassins who fear and worship him in equal measure.
