HISTORY

Death, sometimes known as the Grim Reaper, is the literal personification of death. He is more of an abstract concept than a real person, but Death is also capable of assuming a physical form if he so desires and can traverse any dimension where life exists. As Death affects all living beings, it is in fact genderless, but prototypically presents itself as an adult male. Death once took the form of a distinguished French gentleman, under the alias Pierre Le Mort. As a man, Le Mort developed an appreciation for humanity through Annette Whitney, a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Death took Whitney as his wife and thus saved her from her fatal fate, although condemning her to watch all her loved ones wither and die, except Pierre obviously. Annette remained young and beautiful for decades, but while her beauty did not fade, her spirits grew worse. She finally begged Pierre to let her go. He initially refused, but seeing her insistence and desperation, he finally accepted.

Until then the Grim Reaper had never been as grim as he became from then on.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Pierre, Death, is an inconceivably powerful and omniscient being, both lord and personification of death. He has the power to free the soul from its mortal coil and send it to its appropriate destiny, whether it be an afterlife or reincarnation. He often delegates this task to various death gods, but in order for death gods or demons to claim a soul instead of Death himself, they usually must have a valid claim on the soul, whether it be a contract or the deceased being a worshiper. He can only be hurt if he allows it, and even if he were somehow destroyed by some very powerful force, his personality, memories, and powers would be instantly transmitted to another aspect of himself, who would become the new incarnation of death.
