Sheila Sorrel was a frustrated opera singer who worked at a nightclub called the Red Angel. Sorrel had a great beauty, which meant that she was always surrounded by a good bunch of men willing to do anything to win her favors.
After being miserably rejected, Professor Carlton (a scientist) decided to teach the young girl a lesson, using one of his inventions to transform her into a stone statue. However Sheila, still turned to stone, did not remain motionless as Professor Carlton expected. Sorrel flew into a rage, murdering Carlton and three other people before she could be contained by the superhero community.
