After her fiancé, George Barrows, left her for another woman and punched her in the face, Diane decided to get revenge on him by hunting him like the animals she had killed on safari. Diane got a taste for the criminal life and began to hang out in the worst company and that is how she would get to meet Sam Barkley, aka Green Mask, whom she would eventually marry.

Diane was a very skilled hunter. She claimed never missed a shot.
She was apparently even more deadly with a gun, but she felt it was too easy to kill with one. The Huntress could also attach a thin steel cable to her arrows, which she used to scale buildings. She often attacked from the rooftops. The Huntress also used chloroform and may have made use of bear traps. She was very athletic and daring and seemed to be very rich and everyone agrees to describe her as 'beautiful'.
