Bobbi Powell was a historian from the year 2446. At first glance, this future appeared to be a peaceful utopia, but a closer examination revealed an authoritarian society where rights and freedoms were restricted and Supreme Leader Arton and his soldiers mercilessly repressed any kind of dissent, abusing of their power with impunity. Thanks to an old diary that she found in an archive, Bobbi learned of a temporary window that would open between the 25th and 20th centuries, specifically February 1986, in the small american city of Anytown. That information came to the knowledge of Supreme Leader Arton, who commanded a techno-army through the chronal anomaly to conquer the past. Feeling guilty for that, Bobbi armed herself with a power suit and also crossed the time portal to try to stop the conqueror and his war machines, which she did with the help of a twentieth-century boy, Dusty Rhodes (paradoxically, the author of the diary that put everything in motion).
Bobbi became the celebrated heroine Atoma, and fed up with her present, she decided to remain in the boisterous and colorful past. Shortly after, she founded, together with scientist Dr. Austin Atoma Solutions, a technology company with which she amassed a small fortune. Drawing inspiration from the technology of Atoma's combat suit, Dr. Austin created a power jacket for Rip Regan, Bobbi's bodyguard, who would become the heroine's companion, under the alias of Power Jacket.
