Simon Lorch was a scientist who attempted to distill a serum that would restore man to the vigor and power he had in the primordial era of humanity, when the half-beast man fought against nature, animals and a cruel environment. Dr. Lorch achieved his heart's desire, but the price was higher than he expected. The civilized scientist became brutal, while his physique grew incredibly stronger, his mind dwindled until it almost disappeared. This creature, the Primal Man, was motivated solely by instincts, the survival instinct. In the morning, Lorch returned to his own self with no memory of what had happened. Every night for a week, the creature caused terror, until dawn on the eighth day brought the nightmare to an end. When the effects of the serum began to wane, the Primal Man faced a powerful gorilla and managed to break its back, but the stress of the fight combined with that of the transformation caused Dr. Lorch to go into cardiac arrest and finally died. Ted Watkins, the doctor's assistant, promised his fiancée (Anne, Lorch's daughter) that he would destroy everything related to the Primal Man serum, but after a while, Ted's scientific curiosity led him to make the same mistake as his mentor and became the second Primal Man.
POWERS & WEAPONS
The first Primal Man possessed superhuman strength, stamina, and resistance to physical damage. He also possessed heightened senses above the human average and a healing factor that allowed him to heal serious wounds in a few hours. The negative aspect of the transformation is that his mind sank to a primal level, unable to communicate or reason, purely instinctive and brutal. Once the serum was administered, the transformation into Primal Man occurred in a few minutes and lasted approximately 8 hours. The second Primal Man was more powerful than his predecessor and had a much more developed intelligence. He was no longer an inarticulate and wild beast, but a colossus with the mind of a 2-3 year old child, capable of babbling a few words and feeling a certain amount of empathy, thanks to which he sometimes became a force for good.
