HISTORY

The life of young Tom Kenny changed forever the day a tornado swept through the family farm, leaving Tom the only survivor and with no memory of anything that happened*. Little by little he began to develop strange powers that frightened his fellow citizens. With nothing and no one to tie him to that place, young Tom dedicated himself to traveling from state to state, learning to use his new abilities and helping all those in need. Inspired by the appearance of Dash the Human Meteor, Tom decided to become a costumed hero himself and Tornado Tom the Human Whirlwind was born. Soon after, the United States entered World War II and Tom enlisted in the Battle Squadron, where he met his future wife, Joan Wayne (Miss Victory).

(*) It is implied that the tornado that destroyed the farm was actually Tom himself, unleashing his mutant power after watching his father, an alcoholic, beat his mother to death.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Thomas Kenny was a mutant who possessed the ability to rotate his body on his longitudinal axis at superhuman speeds (up to 70 mph). Although his appearance was completely normal, his physiology was perfectly suited to his power. He possessed superhuman strength, particularly in his legs. His reflexes and reaction time were nearly instantaneous and he was immune to vertigo or motion sickness. As he rotated, he could not be touched or caught due to the tremendous angular momentum created by his rotation. With enough momentum, he could spin on vertical surfaces. He could create an air shield to deflect matter. By rapidly spinning his arms, he could form jet streams powerful enough to suck in or push an opponent away or blow a hole through a brick wall. With much practice, he learned to fly like a helicopter for short periods of time.
