HISTORY 

Roy "Shark" Brodie was a sailor who worked as a soldier of fortune, fighting anyone from one end of the Pacific Ocean to the other, in exchange for good pay. And he fought and made his fortune, but he who lives by the sword ends up dying by the sword. However, floating half dead in the middle of the ocean, Roy was saved by Father Neptune, a mysterious old man with paranormal abilities, abilities that he transmitted to Roy, whom he turned into his agent, a protector of the marine world and all its creatures. And when the United States entered World War II, Shark joined the grand coalition of paranormal heroes they called the Battle Squadron.

Father Neptune gave Roy paranormal abilities to live underwater. He increased his strength, stamina, and ability to regenerate. He made his lungs able to extract oxygen from the water. He transformed his hands and feet, making them webbed. He also gave him other abilities, psychic abilities, like hypnotism or projecting illusions. Father Neptune also gave him a weapon, a knife, thanks to which Roy had control over water and the ability to teleport through it.

HISTORY 

Private detective Terry Gardner, a former Marine sergeant and former wrestling champion, was investigating the disappearance of a man named Wilmer. Wilmer in turn was pursued by two hired assassins, Maxim and Nada, who sow chaos and death wherever they go. One of the couple's victims is a gypsy whose pet parrot named Snoop is adopted by Terry. The bird has a habit of saying strange phrases, for example "The Timberwolf will be the Master of the Twilight." However, Gardner thinks about this phrase and, inspired by the emergence of paranormal heroes, decides to become one, the Twilight Timberwolf.

HISTORY 

The Arrow is actually Ralph Payne, a military intelligence agent who, frustrated by enemy espionage and rampant crime, adopted the costumed identity of Arrow to use his archery skills to fight crime and the enemies of freedom in a way his other self never could. The Arrow is remembered for being the first American mystery man to use archery as a primary trick. He was member of the Secret Warriors and the Battle Squadron during WWII.

Payne was skilled in hand-to-hand combat, infiltration tactics, interrogation and counterespionage, having received specific training as a military intelligence agent. But the sign of his identity as a vigilante was his magnificent skill as an archer, endowed with almost perfect precision. At first Payne only used conventional arrows, but after becoming involved with the paranormal community, he began using special arrows, such as the net arrow or the explosive arrow.

HISTORY 

Jeremiah Steele was an American air ace who fought for his country during World War II as part of the Tuskegee Airmen Squadron. In one of his missions he transported Ginger Dare, a member of the V-Group*, to the occupied territories, being captured. He was tortured and confined in a prison camp. During an escape, Steele heroically drew enemy fire so his teammates could escape. The Nazis dumped his lifeless body outside the prison camp. Hours later Jeremiah was brought back to life by Father Duroc, the mysterious leader of the V-Group. For three months, Duroc treated the young pilot through an experimental procedure, until Jeremiah made a full recovery. Not only that, the treatment also gave him greater physical and mental power than other men have. Father Duroc urged Steele to become something bigger than a soldier or a pilot and thus the figure of V-Man, the Man of Victory, was born. From the forests of southern France, V-Man became a symbol of the fight for freedom. Ginger Dare became his adventure partner and his lover. In addition to the V-Group, The Man of Victory was also a member of the Battle Squadron. At the end of the war, Jeremiah returned to the United States were he transformed a gang of troublemakers from Brooklyn into his V-Boys, creating the voluntary organization known as the V-Boys Defense Corps.

HISTORY 

Dr. Travers, Harry's father, created an American champion, the artificial man named Yankee Doodle Jones. Harry became the Dandy and together the two joined the Secret Warriors, the Battle Squadron or the Crime Busters. They fought against the Nazis in WWII, against crime and supervillains on the streets of Dynamic City and shared many more adventures. Much later, Harry received the death touch of the Cyanide Cindy and Yankee Doodle Jones, seeing the life of his protégé in danger, sacrificed himself so that Harry could live. Harry's consciousness was transferred to Yankee Doodle Jones' android body. Paradoxically, doing so Harry became virtually immortal. Yankee Doodle Jones' mind also survived, in his case as a disembodied cyber-entity still giving advice to Harry. After a period of adaptation to his new body, Harry resumed his heroic career under the Liberty Man alias, helping found and fund the Young Heroes Alliance, establishing his base of operations at the Liberty Foundation Headquarters in Dynamic City. Sir Brian was a valiant knight of King Arthur's court who wore an armor and a sword both enchanted by Merlin, the Druid. When the Saxons were driven out and the Pax Arthuriana prevailed, he met his strength against evil knights, warlocks, and monsters like the Barghest. His lady was Tarna, a brave warrior in her own right who often aided him in battle and once wore the enchanted silver armor herself. Sir Brian chased Black Barton, a diabolical wizard, through a time vortex that led him to the 1930s where he joined other heroes to form The Outlaws. When Sir Brian returned to Camelot (in the past) he found that Lady Tarna had married another knight and, feeling that was no longer his place, he returned to the 20th century, where he was part of the Battle Squadron. Professor Claude Stevens, a renowned ornithologist and engineer, was senselessly murdered. His son Drake was outraged and received no justice from the police. HISTORY 

Douglas Danville was a wealthy playboy who decided to fight crime, first under the secret identity of the Knight Unknown, but soon changed his M.O. to Black Owl. When WWII began, Danville bequeathed the Black Owl cape to his good friend Walt Walters. Walters' wife had been murdered a few years earlier and Walt strove to raise his children, twins Patrick and Richard, as true American paragons. When his father became the Black Owl, the children became his young sidekicks, assuming the identities of Yank and Rebel. The trio enlisted the help of Inspector Foley of the Prize City Police Departmemt. Unfortunately, Walt Walters was seriously injured in a shooting and was forced to withdraw from the fight against crime, although he continued to help Doug and the twins, designing new devices and taking care of the intendance and communications of the trio (basically, "The Guy In The Chair"). Douglas Danville returned from the front line and took up the mantle of the Black Owl. Sometime later, Danville met Doris Parker, the vigilante nicknamed Scarlet Sable, first as rivals and then as allies. Doris and Douglas eventually married and had a daughter, Belle, who would end up becoming the Harpy.

Douglas Danville was in exceptional physical shape and was well above average fighters and acrobats. The Black Owl possessed vast resources to sustain his war on crime. His main mean of transportation was the Silent Swooper.

HISTORY 

The Boy Soldiers were a team of young men from around the world who served under the command of Captain of the United States Army, John Grayson (also known as Captain Commando), during World War II, fighting against the Axis powers.

The Boy Soldiers consisted of Billy (Captain Grayson's son) and his friends Flatbush (from the United States), Gerald Sykes (from England), Erik Jansen (from Norway) and Armand De Latour (from France). 

None of them (including Captain Grayson) possessed superhuman abilities, but they were all brave and fierce fighters.

HISTORY 

April, 1942. 

After a laboratory accident exposed him to cobalt rays, Professor Keith Spencer discovered that instead of dying a slow and painful death, his irradiated cells became stronger: his muscle density tripled, his speed increased to levels superhuman, he became immune to extreme temperatures. and virtually invulnerable. Promising to use his new powers to help humanity and fight evil, he became the hero in disguise Major Blast. Rick Davis, one of his students, became Rocky Thunder, his superhero assistant.

HISTORY 

April, 1942. 

Don Wright was editor of the Daily Bulletin, in Harvey City. Don donned a disguise becoming the Freedom Defender to help the downtrodden and when World War II broke out, he focused on fighting Axis saboteurs. He was aided by the Young Defenders, four children named Lefty, Beanie White, Slim and Joanie (the latter being the couple in the group), who worked as newspaper boys for the Daily Bulletin. The foursome never realized that Don and Freedom Defender were one and the same. The gang persuaded Don that the Daily Bulletin could include a children's section, which they called "Cubs Copy". 

Don left the contents of it entirely in the hands of the kids. Lefty handled sports, Beanie did a crime column, Joanna focused on teen-oriented gossip, and they all worked together on a comic strip starring Freedom Defender.

Don was a good fighter, but he had no actual superpowers. 

Like many kid sidekicks, the Young Defenders originally relied on their strength and cunning to get the job done, but over the course of their adventures they learned ju-jitsu and detective skills.

HISTORY 

In the early 1940s, while working in his research laboratory, Professor John Dickering discovered a gas that had 50 times the energy potential of hydrogen. Inspired by the exploits of other costumed heroes, Professor Dickering designs a super powerful costume fueled by this gas and adopts the superhero identity of Comet Man to fight crime. His girlfriend, reporter Thelma Gordon, covers the adventures of Comet Man, making him one of the most popular heroes of his day. Sadly, his career as a masked hero came to an end when he was killed while trying to save the life of his brother Robert. To avenge the death of his brother, Bob Dickering became the second Comet Man.
