Dynaman was created by Dr. Moore to fight against the forces of darkness personified in the evil The Spot, who was stealing the mental patterns of the best American scientists and then assassinating them. While being stabbed, Dr. Moore somehow managed to flip the switch, bringing his creation to life. The Spot's diabolical plan was stopped by Dynaman. The android created a secret identity for himself as high school basketball coach Bert McQuade. Dynaman joined the mighty Fixers, where he met Margo Webster, aka Green Sorceress. They both fell in love and after a while they got married.

Dynaman could fly, was strong enough to lift a car, and was invulnerable to bullets and acid. He also had above-average intelligence by virtue of being an android.
