Paul Lerner was a wealthy industrialist happily married to his loving wife, Lenore. Medical negligence ended Lenore's life and Paul's life and sanity were shattered into a thousand pieces. Paul saw his personality split: By day he was the grieving widowed industrialist and by night he was the Raven, a brutal vigilante who first murdered the doctor guilty of his wife's death, then went on to take out criminals on the streets. He was stopped by the second Comet-Man and sent to a mental institution. Far from improving his psychological state, he ended up enrolled in the Clutching Hand.
It wasn't until he crossed paths with Captain Wizard that he was able to purge his soul and restore his sanity. Since then he started a new life as a hero and a member of Protectors Inc..
POWERS & WEAPONS
Paul was in good physical shape, but in his first stage as a vigilante he had not yet received any type of training as a fighter and his effectiveness depended on the strength and brutality that his altered mental state gave him. The Raven's costume gave Paul some protection from gunshots and slashes, even small explosions. The wings of the uniform were designed to allow gliding between buildings.
