Dr. Shannon Kane and her husband, Dr. Harry Kane, were a couple of scientists who worked at Eagle Industries developing projects for the United States Army. Basically, their work was divided into two parts: on the one hand, the search for applications for a new, extremely versatile polymer that they called Arachnium. In addition to having adhesive properties, being synthesized as a fiber, arachnium was tougher than Kevlar and as a filament it could withstand more tensile stress than steel. And on the other hand, they were developing a genetic enhancer that would turn normal soldiers into super-soldiers. Unfortunately, the lab was raided by mercenaries looking for the formula. Harry destroyed the files and managed to escape with a vial of the serum, though mortally wounded. He died in Shannon's arms, but not before injecting her with the formula. Shannon developed superhuman strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, and heightened senses... And a thirst for revenge.
Using the arachnium she made herself a skintight jumpsuit that would protect her. She also created a kind of bracelets with which to shoot the polymer in the form of a cable or as a web with which to catch her enemies. Thus the Spider Widow was born, but it would not be until her revenge was fulfilled that Shannon Kane would become the Spider Queen. Along the way, she found a partner and eventually a new love in the vigilante figure known as The Grim Reaper.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Due to the genetic enhancer injected into her by her late husband, Shannon possesses superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and durability. She also possesses an accelerated healing factor. Her uniform made of arachnium is more resistant than Kevlar and offers her additional protection against physical damage. She devised an ingenious pair of special bracelets to store the arachnium to release later as needed (as a cable to swing between buildings or as a web to catch her enemies).
