Angelique Lilou Duval, alias Mama Loa, was a Haitian voodoo high priestess. When she discovered that a sacred object from her religion, a small drum, was going to be displayed in a New York museum, she boarded a plane ready to retrieve it. She managed to get hold of the drum and when she believed she could escape unnoticed, she was photographed by Bill Peters, an illustrator who was looking for reference material at the exhibition. Despite this, Mama Loa managed to escape with the drum, but she couldn't let a photo of her go to the police or the newspapers, so she followed Peters to his house and at night she sneaked inside to retrieve the camera. Bill discovered her and Angelique offered to forget everything if she gave him the camera. Bill refused, adding that even if he wanted to, he couldn't give it to her, since the camera wasn't there, but at her girlfriend Sheila's house. Mama Loa managed to get away from Bill and went in search of Sheila (who had been watched by one of the priestess's zombies). Mama Loa recovered the camera and left Sheila in catatonic state. She then flew back to Haiti. Bill did not give up and followed her, but his final outcome was beyond any doubt. With the drum in her possession, Mama Loa further increased her influence in Haiti and began to think about going even beyond...
