The Immortal Emperor was originally a human being from the 37th Century, the leader of a sect of worshipers of the Dark Goddess Lilu, from the planet Lilitu. This impious priest sacrificed virgins to gain the favor of his goddess. But Brad Spencer (Maximan) and his girlfriend Carol Paige (Spirita) confronted the cultists and during the fight in the villain's den a fire broke out that devastated the place with the cult members inside. However, the priest did manage to catch the attention of the Dark Goddess, who teleported his dying body to Planet Lilitu. There, using the darkest sorcery and the most abject science, the priest was rebuilt in the image and likeness of Empress Lilu. They turned him into an unstoppable creature, an Immortal Emperor who commanded the legions of Anthrozoons of the Planet Lilitu. Empress Lilu (the Dark Goddess), Dr. Vodun, and the Immortal Emperor himself form the Elite of Lilitu, the triumvirate that rules the lilin with an iron fist.

The Immortal Emperor possesses inhuman strength, stamina, and resistance to physical damage. He possesses a regeneration factor that defies all logic and that makes him worthy of the name. Maybe he can be stopped, momentarily. But nothing can kill the Immortal Emperor.
