HISTORY 

Jack Traynor was the perfect All-American boy. Attractive, charismatic, athletic and also a real brainiac. His only fault was that for some reason he detested masked heroes and his greatest desire was to become their nemesis. So Jack got to work, donning a mask, a matching uniform, and calling himself Sinistro. To counteract his lack of paranormal abilities, he created a series of gadgets that would balance the scales in his favor. His girlfriend, Shirlee Peech, begged him to become a superhero, but Sinistro mockingly responded that that field was too crowded and that it was boring to be a boy scout. Sinistro appeared before Hymie Schultz, the leader of the Dosa Mosa criminal organization, to offer his services. Schultz proposed to attract the attention of paranormal heroes while the gang robbed the National Treasure. Schultz's gang released a paralyzing gas to rob the bank, while Sinistro dealt with several paranormal heroes, temporarily incapacitating several of them. The robbery was a success, but when Sinistro appeared before Schultz to collect his share, the mob boss offered him half a dollar. Sinistro demanded half of the stolen money. Schultz again refused to pay him what was agreed and mocked him. Sinistro's response was to activate the fire alarm and in a few minutes the place was surrounded by firefighters and police. Despite Schultz's protests, the police refused to arrest Sinistro, who ended up becoming a hero, much to his chagrin. 

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Sinistro's Highro-Gyro allows him to move through the air (although his uniform also had the ability to fly). His infrared visor allows him to see through solid objects. He also has an ultra-sensitive heat detector and target selector. His invisible and super-strong Micro-Mesh can entangle and subdue his enemies. He also uses a small mirror-like artifact with which he is able to hypnotize his opponents.
