In the mid-19th century, John Saxon was a shy bank clerk in the town of Mill Valley, very close to Sequoia, California (USA). There, an elderly lawman named Swede Larson trained him to turn the diffident boy into a true fighter. After Larson was killed, Saxon decided to put on a mask and deliver justice, becoming the hero the town needed. After saving Mill Valley from the machinations of the wealthy machiavellian Mr. Rigby, The Masked Ranger roamed the West, defending the pioneers from hostile natives and white outlaws.
Decades later, a descendant of his, the journalist Steve Saxon, would become the famous vigilante and member of the Crime Busters, the White Mask.
POWERS & WEAPONS
The Masked Ranger was a good horseman, fighter, and sharp shot, carrying a pair of revolvers. He rode a white stallion named Streak (a gift from old Larson) and was often accompanied by a loyal attack dog named Thunder.
