Firehair was actually the daughter of a wealthy Boston businessman who traveled around the city of Plainsville, Texas, under the assumed name "J.B. Smith". He addressed the girl simply by the nickname "Princess". It was never clear why they were trying to build a new life in a new land. The fact is that Firehair's father was murdered by outlaws posing as Native Americans and she was also left for dead. But she was alive, although she had lost all memory. Little Ax, son of Chief Tehama of the Sioux tribe, found her and nursed her back to health. The young girl was adopted by the tribe and in a short time she adapted to her new life and learned the skills she needed to be a productive member of the tribe. In fact, she became a prominent member of the tribe, surpassing many warriors who had been raised as Sioux since their birth. Some time later she regained her memory and remembered that her real name was Lynn Cabot. She then traveled to Boston to claim her inheritance, but soon returned to the tribe, preferring to work as a fur trapper and protecting the natives from anyone who dared try to exploit or harm them.
