Rick Mord, an American screenwriter on vacation in Europe, accidentally (apparently) discovers a door to a demonic dimension known as the Beyond in the ruins of an ancient castle. After near-death encounters with demons, ghouls, and vampires, it is revealed to him that he is the chosen one to become the overlord of this hellish domain. Mord is transformed into a supernatural creature endowed with incredible powers but ultimately he decides to escape his obligations and attempts to return to his former life, with unexpected and chaotic results.
POWERS & WEAPONS
As the titular master of the Beyond, Mord has sovereign power over witches, demons, vampires, and other supernatural beings, who are forced to bow before him. He is able to travel at will between the mortal dimension and the Beyond, and also through space and time.
Furthermore, he can move unseen throughout the Realm of the Living, influencing the fate of mortals. When direct intervention is required, he can reveal himself to interact with those around him. Even in his human form, he seems to retain some degree of his supernatural powers, being able to fly and subdue demonic creatures. Some believe that as the ruler of the Beyond, he is so powerful that even the Biblical Satan would be below him on the power scale.
