HISTORY

Jay Otto, aka The Reaper, was one of the most elusive, deadly and masterful assassins in history, as well as the founder and executive director of Assassination SA, an organization that provided professional assassins to private persons and/or other criminal organizations. Otto was hired to assassinate Doug Danville, but failed (for the first time in his career) because Danville was secretly the masked hero Black Owl. The Reaper didn't take it well, making it personal against the Owl. Otto got hold of a replica of Black Owl's costume and began murdering people indiscriminately to destroy the hero's reputation, but ultimately Danville managed to stop the Reaper and clear his name in the eyes of the public opinion. However that was not the end of Jay Otto. He managed to escape from prison and became a true supervillain, obsessed with hanging the Black Owl's head in his trophy room.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Otto was an advanced hand-to-hand combatant. He was deadly with the knife and possessed unerring marksmanship with a large number of firearms. He also possessed tactical, interrogation and investigative skills. The Reaper was a very expensive assassin for hire and thus he had a small fortune with which he financed a uniform and gadgets (including his own version of the Silent Swooper) similar to those of the Black Owl.

When WWII began, Danville bequeathed the Black Owl cape to his good friend Walt Walters. Walters' wife had been murdered a few years earlier and Walt strove to raise his children, twins Patrick and Richard, as true American paragons. When his father became the Black Owl, the children became his young sidekicks, assuming the identities of Yank and Rebel. The trio enlisted the help of Inspector Foley of the Prize City Police Departmemt. Unfortunately, Walt Walters was seriously injured in a shooting and was forced to withdraw from the fight against crime, although he continued to help Doug and the twins, designing new devices and taking care of the intendance and communications of the trio (basically, "The Guy In The Chair"). Douglas Danville returned from the front line and took up the mantle of the Black Owl. Sometime later, Danville met Doris Parker, the vigilante nicknamed Scarlet Sable, first as rivals and then as allies. Doris and Douglas eventually married and had a daughter, Belle, who would end up becoming the Harpy.

HISTORY

This story began many years before Doris Parker was born. A watchmaking genius made a pair of gauntlets of a very, very special metal (impervium) for a nobleman of Hungarian origin, who used them to deliver justice. Time passed and the gauntlets ended up in an auction house in France. Walter Parker, Doris' father, was a wealthy tobacco businessman as well as a major collector of rare items. During a business trip to France, Mr. Parker couldn't resist acquiring them. However, another bidder did not seem to agree with this and sent some thugs to retrieve the gauntlets. Mr. Parker refused to hand them over, the situation got complicated and the henchmen killed the businessman and put him in a trunk. The irony was that the gauntlets were hidden in a false bottom in that very trunk. Two weeks later, Doris received her father's personal belongings, including the trunk, and she made the most macabre of discoveries, her father's corpse. She also found the gauntlets and the pain gave way to the fury. Seeking revenge, Doris plunged into the criminal underworld, donning the Impervium gauntlets and calling herself Scarlet Sable. She managed to piece the puzzle together until she found the one responsible for her father's death, and then executed him. After this, Miss Parker fell into a self-destructive spiral of crime and hedonism and only one thing kept her from ending up dead or behind bars: Doug Danville, aka The Black Owl. Together they started a new life, got married and had a child, Belle. Much later, fate wanted Belle to repeat the story of her mother, but that's another story...

POWERS & WEAPONS

She wore a pair of mechanical impervium gloves capable of grasping and tearing with superhuman strength.
