HISTORY 

Mark Horley was a biochemist and criminologist whose great intellect and excess of ego led him to experiment with his own psyche trying to suppress the darkest and most aggressive part of the human personality (the Id according to Sigmund Freud's theories). But instead of that what happened was that his personality split: 

By day he continued to be the attractive, charismatic and successful criminologist Mark Horley, but every night he underwent a transformation not only mentally, but also physically, which turned him into a brutal creature, vicious and criminal, whom the news dubbed "The Monster of Manhattan". Young New York hero Black Hood discovered Horley's double life and confronted the Monster, but it took the help of the entire Tyro Team to stop the threat.

HISTORY 

GCA-9 was created by geneticist Robert Lewis. Lewis was obsessed with the idea of ​​inserting DNA from other species to improve the human genetic code. The first eight test subjects proved unviable. But on the ninth try, a feline-human hybrid, the gene recombination was successful. At first just a single-celled organism, but soon, thanks to hyper-accelerated growth, a perfectly formed individual, a female, who was named by Lewis as Mona Dee (from Monad, kind of "first being" or "singularity"). The creature grew up exponentially, from infancy to childhood to adolescence in a matter of months. Her intelligence increased at the same rate and Lewis decided to educate her. He taught her to speak, read and write, but kept her isolated from the outside world. Mona reached maturity and her growth stopped. Robert became increasingly obsessed with her, to the point of sexually assaulting her. The young woman defended herself by bringing out the feline part inside her and escaped from the lab, leaving Robert seriously injured. Stories of a panther in Central Park caught the attention of the Tyro Team, which went looking for it. After the usual fight, the Tyro Team left the park with a new ally.

Mona was very intelligent, being able to adapt quickly to human life. Her feline genes gave her superhuman strength, reflexes and speed, as well as heightened senses. She also has other differences, such as large canines and claws on the feet and hands, or a tail similar to that of a panther. HISTORY 

Kip Burland was a rookie NYPD officer who was charged with a crime he did not commit. Wanted by his own companions, Kip tried to clear his name by finding who had framed him, but they turned out to be a gang of corrupt cops who shot him and left him for dead. Burland was found by an elderly homeless man living in an abandoned subway tunnel. The old man took care of his injuries and, after hearing Kip's story, decided to help him get his life back. After months of hard training, Burland assumed the personality of Black Hood and caught the corrupt cops, managing to clear his name and being re-admitted to the police force. Kip had a girlfriend, Barbara Sutton, who worked as a reporter. Barbara became the super-heroine known as Thumbelina to help the Black Hood. For a time, Kip and Barbara shared adventures with the Tyro Team. Kip continued fighting crime as the Black Hood and as a cop until a criminal unmasked him. After losing his secret identity, Burland hung up the hood, left the police, married Barbara, and the two started a successful detective agency.

HISTORY 

Muggsy's real name was Rica Swisslak. She was the twin sister of David Swisslak, Sovereign of Swisslakia and she was kidnapped when she was very young. The kidnappers took her from Swisslakia to the US and she forgot any memory of her homeland or her real family. Calling herself Muggsy (and posing as a boy), she became a petty criminal. Years later, David (and the Stone Golem) reunited with her lost twin and restored her memories. Rica helped her brother recover some Swisslakian relics with the help of the Tyro Team. Among these relics was the legendary Blue Crystal, which Rica kept after the adventure, becoming the Crystal Queen. David returned to Europe and Rica stayed in the US as a member of the Tyro Team... But unbeknownst to her teammates, Crystal Queen became a crime boss with dreams of conquering the world, allied with The Clutching Hand and master assassin Death Mask.

Rica obtained the legendary Blue Crystal, which was capable of creating large masses of silicon crystal. Anything from a glass sculpture to a slide or a glass jail to lock opponents from her, effectively immobilizing them. HISTORY 

Oktobriana, the Russian "counterrevolutionary" heroine, is actually a "flawed" clone of Amazona who escaped and became independent from the Soviet government, who considers her a dangerous terrorist. Oktobriana got a red star tattooed on her forehead and bleached her hair to differentiate herself from her genetic twin. 

Both could be seen as either heroines or villains: Amazona is an agent blindly loyal to Russia, her homeland, no matter what the government is. That makes her as good or as bad as the current government is. Oktobriana is an internationalist and is only faithful to utopian ideal of the socialist revolution, betrayed by the soviets. Oktobriana has fought with and against the Tyro Team.

Due to their hybrid human-alien genetics, both Oktobriana and Amazona are practically immortal. Both possess superhuman strength, stamina, agility, and senses, and are capable of physical feats beyond the reach of normal humans. Oktobriana did not complete her conditioning in the House of Mirrors, from which she escaped due to a security breach. However, upon coming into contact with the subversive group known as The Underground, Oktobriana completed his "education" by learning the methods of urban guerrilla and terrorism. As a result of this and her nature, much fiercer and more explosive than his genetic twin, Oktobriana is as lethal as Amazon.

HISTORY 

Richard 'Dick' Walters is the twin brother of Patrick 'Rick' Walters, and together they were known as the Fighting Twins, sidekicks of the second Black Owl, his father, Walt Walters. Walt was wounded in action and retired from active crimefighting. Dick and his brother continued to fight crime alongside the original Black Owl, millionaire Douglas Danville. Eventually, Dick left the Owl's Nest and moved to Earth-164B, where he joined other young heroes of this Parallel Earth to form the Tyro team, from which he has been the perennial leader since then. Dick abandoned his old alias and assumed a new masked identity as the Knight Unknown. Dick and Carol Vance, his teammate Wildfire, fell in love and after several years of relationship they got married.

The witch Lady Satan reunited Dick Walters, Meteor and Starlet (now Moon Girl) with Tondo (the android from another world), Wildfire (the chosen one of a Hawaiian fire deity) and the Winged Monkey (Mr. Ozzie Feathers, direct from the dimension beyond the rainbow), forming the definitive lineup of the Tyro Team.

Maureen Halson was the daughter of a fishing boat captain from Gloucester, Massachusetts. One day, after being told that she was not old enough to sail with her father, she hid on board, with the bad luck that the ship was wrecked. Maureen drowned. But miraculously she was rescued from death and taken to the underwater city of Mermea, where Queen Merma made her her protégé. Maureen Marine helped to protect her new home from its hostile neighbors and other threats. She fell in love with, Algernon "Algie" Kelp, the youth partner of Barry Kudasiewizc (known as the adventurer Barracuda). Maureen and Algie joined the Tyro Team.

Selena Brown was an orphan girl who lived on a farm and had a great fear of the moon. One night, while cleaning the attic, she came upon a magic Moon-Jewel necklace which gave her incredible strength. She uses this gift in a variety of ways that catch the attention of the media and Moon Maiden. Eventually, she wound up saving two hardened criminals from a possibly fatal accident. Seeing how useful she could be to them, they force her to help them break into a bank by threatening to kill her foster parents if she refuses. She complies. When Moon Maiden intervenes, the thieves shove Selena into the bank vault, where she starts suffocating. She is eventually rescued by Moon Maiden, who is revealed to be her cousin (Selena's mother was Moon Maiden's aunt). "An alien scientist named Siroco created Tondo, the Omnibot, for space exploration. The planet leader whom Siroco calls 'Your Excellency' desires to use Tondo to explore possible worlds to invade and spread his empire. Tondo's first mission took an unexpected three years. He returns in bad shape, appearing damaged. Tondo shows moving pictures of the planet, displaying a desolate and unlivable planet. This dissuades the would-be invaders. Tondo's next mission is to Earth. Tondo intends on protecting the Earth by again deceiving the despotic conqueror." 

The first time Tondo landed on Earth he did so in 1980's Harlem and, using his adaptive systems, he adopted the traits of the predominant native life form.

Lady Satan  was a sorceress who fought against the occult. 

Josefine Leblanc was a witch who sold her soul to Satan in exchange for eternal youth and power, but due to a strange twist of fate she suffered amnesia, creating a new personality from scratch, Celeste Karloff. Celeste was diametrically opposed to Josefine and when she discovered her true origin, she denied the pact and dedicated herself from then on to doing as many good deeds as she could, saving as many damned souls as she could. Celeste assembled a group of young heroes, the Tyro Team, to combat the forces of evil and, perhaps, change the destiny of her own damned soul.

HISTORY

The Winged Monkeys were once a free people, living in the forests of Oz. They were carefree, but rather mischievous. They were punished for his pranks making them slaves to the Golden Cap. When Freckles died, Billy disbanded the Merry Boys and joined forces with the vigilante known as The Hood, forming the duo Robyn & the Hood. The duo split up when each joined their own team, in Billy's case the Tyro Team.
