HISTORY 

Los Angeles California. Charles "Butch" Benton was a security guard who was falsely charged with theft of an armored car, and murder. He was judged, sentenced to the gas chamber and executed. His corpse was used in experimentation, with surprising results. His body regenerated, moreover, he was enhanced in the process, gaining inhuman strength and resistance to damage. Butch escaped the facility determined to get revenge on those who had framed him, starting with his attorney, Paul Lowe, who, in collusion with the real culprits, had betrayed him for money. Butch tried to contact his girlfriend, stripper Eve Martin, but she was involved with Detective Dick Chasen, the police officer who brought Butch to justice, and who was actually the leader of the plot. Benton fell into a trap, but using his new abilities he  defeated the conspirators. In the end, Butch managed to get attorney Lowe to confess to the plot to the police, thus clearing his name. Later he established himself as a celebrity bodyguard. 

POWERS & WEAPONS 

After being revived, Butch displayed incredible strength and was immune to bullets and other projectile weapons. At one point, he was shot in the chest with a bazooka. The bazooka damaged him, but he survived the shot.

HISTORY 

Tom Dore was an American orphan raised in the Lha-I-Ha monastery in Tibet. The blond-haired, blue-eyed young Westerner soon showed unusual prowess as a student of the art of Gom-Pa. He passed the Potala trials and proved that his chi power rivaled that of the monastery's abbot himself, a monk over 300 years old. Tom eventually left Lha-I-Ha to track down the demon Ching Kai, who had possessed a monk to steal a sacred scroll with which he planned to bring humanity to its knees. After stopping Ching Kai and returning the scroll to the monastery, Tom decided to come back to America to investigate his roots and what really happened to his parents. There he met Butch Benton, the Indestructible Man, with whom he befriended. Tom and Butch became partners and collaborated with the super team known as Protectors Inc. Tom established a lasting romantic relationship with heroine and secret agent Torchy Brown.

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Tom has been trained in Gom-Pa, an ancient Tibetan martial art based on focusing his "chi" to perform superhuman feats. He can become incredibly fast and strong, much more than a normal human being. He has shown the ability to teleport great distances in the blink of an eye, telepathy, telekinesis, the ability to cast illusions, the ability to use the power of his chi to make himself immune to damage, or put himself into a state of suspended animation to survive being encased in ice, or placed in an airless vacuum.
