HISTORY 

Gale's father, Gregory Leary, was a district attorney in Key City. When Gale was just a baby, his mother, Martha, was murdered and his father was permanently crippled when they were attacked by Bob Evans and Red Brandois, criminals who were being investigated by the Attorney's Office. Evans left a willow twig in the girl's crib as a warning to Greg. Over the years, Gale began to develop strange abilities, which allowed her to avenge the crimes committed against her parents. Gale, using her powers, confronted Brandois, who mistaking her for the vengeful spirit of her mother, suffered a cardiac arrest and died. Gale laid a willow twig at the foot of his corpse as a gesture of poetic justice. Later, Gale befriended a young man named King. Together they discovered that they were brothers, biological children of the hero Black Diamond and the villainess Killer Plant. King became Black Zero and Gale adopted the name Jill O'Wisp. The two joined other descendants and protégés of members of the Crime Busters and formed the Young Heroes Alliance, using their powers to fight for justice. She and her teammate Matthew Price Jr. (aka Brain Boy) established a romantic relationship.

POWERS & WEAPONS 

Among other things, Gale had the ability to shine in a strange light, much like the Will O'The Wisp. Her aura protected her from bullets and seemed to give Gale the ability to repel attackers (possibly telekenesis).

HISTORY 

Bruce King was an engineering student who began to suffer a strange phenomenon: his body seemed to uncontrollably generate a type of wave that produced a series of physical effects: First, the neutralization of heat, resulting in intense cold. Second, a complete and impenetrable darkness, the light totally neutralized. And third, alterations of the gravitational field. Every time his powers were unleashed, chaos took over everything around him. King used his scientific knowledge to create the Black-Zero, a device he used to control his abilities. Looking for the origin of his "affliction" he met Gale O'Leary, a young woman who had also recently discovered his special powers. Together they came to the conclusion that they were brothers, biological children of the hero Black Diamond and the villainess Killer Plant. Bruce designed a suit and became Black-Zero, the King of Darkness, and Gale did the same by assuming the alias of Jill O'Wisp. Together they joined other sons and heirs of members of the Crime Busters to form the Young Heroes Alliance.

King was able to create an area of ​​cold and total darkness where he was the only one able to see. The cold that he could generate was so intense as to quickly incapacitate anyone who wasn't protected or make steel as brittle as glass. With time and training, Bruce was able to use his power to fly or make objects or other people fly under his command, in a controlled way.

HISTORY 

When he was still a baby, the caravan in which Robert's family was traveling was attacked by a group of Indians. There were only two survivors: little Robert and the one who would become his adoptive father, Lloyd Vale. Years later, when Robert had barely reached adulthood, Lloyd was also murdered at the hands of outlaws, leading to Bob becoming the vigilante Black Diamond. 

Armed with a pair of six-guns, Black Diamond battled evil in Junction City, leaving behind a diamond suit card. He had a partner, a circus strongman called Stathis "Bumper" Bumpinovich and an extremely intelligent horse named Colt. Bob Vale eventually became an official US Marshal. One of his descendants, Jack Vale, would become one of the Crime Busters' founding members, as the second Black Diamond.

HISTORY

Lenore Franklin was the secretary, laboratory assistant, and girlfriend of Dr. Lewis Parker, a scientist who sought to turn plants into animated beings. There was only one small problem: the only successful specimen the doctor had gotten only fed on human blood... The obsession to carry out his experiments made him recourse to the robbery of graves and the kidnapping of a fugitive criminal named Danny Raphel to feed the specimen. Lenore lashed out at Lewis calling him a murderer, but during the struggle she was accidentally killed. Watching her beloved die, Lewis regained her sanity and to save her life, he took blood from the plant and injected it into Lenore. The injection revived the young woman, however she began to transform into a human-plant hybrid with the same killer instincts as the specimen. Ironically Dr. Parker was assassinated while achieving his goal of creating plant-human hybrid. Lenore was reported missing...

As a human-plant hybrid, Lenore needs water and sunlight to photosynthesize... And blood!!! She is able to mind control plant life around her, animate vines or roots to ensnare or strangle her opponents, and command trees to move and attack. Her bond with plants is symbiotic in nature; she can manipulate them, but she also needs to maintain contact with them for her own mental health and perhaps for her physical existence. Lenore is extremely strong and resistant to physical damage.

HISTORY 

Bettie O'Hare, aka Miss Bunny, was an albino who had the ability to control the minds of all those who looked into her eyes. Miss Bunny was associated with a con artist, Mr. Mista, who was posing as a fortune teller. Mr. Mista went to prison, but Miss Bunny did not. She had a discreet criminal career, more focused on attracting the attention of Black Diamond (Jack Vale) than committing real crimes. Eventually, Jack got her to reform, and the couple married in the mid-1980s.

HISTORY 

Jack Vale was chosen for his courage and unwavering willpower to be the bearer of The Eye of Khor, a jewel of power in a magical ring. Following in the footsteps of his ancestor Robert Vale, Jack dedicated himself to fighting crime as the vigilante Black Diamond. Jack had been in a relationship with a super villain twice, first with Lenore Franklin (aka Killer Plant) and then, in his maturity, with Bettie O'Hare, aka Miss Bunny. The second one reformed herself and became his wife.

The Eye of Khor gave Jack the ability to create anything his imagination was capable of conceiving. The ring also gave him super strength, invulnerability, super senses, the ability to heal others, fly, and some other abilities, always depending on Jack's willpower.
